“Every year, December 9 is celebrated as the International Anti-Corruption Day”
The day emphasises the need for the eradication of corruption and intends to create awareness on the ways through which it can be reduced.
The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the convention against corruption on October 31, 2003.
Following this, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was designated as the secretariat for the Convention’s Conference of States Parties.
In December 2005, the General Assembly designated the day as Anti-Corruption Day.
The day advocates against corruption, a problem that runs rampant across the world.
