Indian Premier League 2020: Aaron Finch Louds Devdutt Padikkal for “Under Pressure”
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Aaron Finch on Wednesday praised debutant Devadatta Padikkal who hit a brilliant half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. During RCB’s innings, Padikkal scored 56 runs for RCB in his first match for the franchise. SRH lost by 10 runs against RCB. The David Warner-led team failed to chase the 164-run target. Finch said that he was impressed with how the debut was made during the innings. The Australian cricketer said that he had seen Padikal’s bat and was happy that the budding player played his natural game.
Finch said in a virtual press conference, “His pressure was really important under pressure and he was a little nervous at the start of the innings but played his natural game.”
“It was really impressive the way he pushed himself. Once his innings started developing he gained confidence and it was great to see.
He said, “Looking at the footage before his playing, he is an aggressive opener and has done really well in Under-19 and domestic cricket. I am really happy that he played his natural game.”
The pair were piled on for 90 for the first wicket before Vijay Shankar completed Padikkal’s wicket at the crease in the 11th over.
Finch said, “The conversation that took place in the middle was about the game scenario – which areas or which bowler are we going to target.”
Finch also praised captain Virat Kohli and said that one needs to be 100 percent committed while playing against the Indian captain.
Finch said, “Regarding Virat’s game, Virat has always said that he is very aggressive in terms of captaincy and his body language. Playing against him is a big challenge.”
He said, “When you’re playing against him, you need to be 100 percent committed and when you’re playing with him, that’s great. He’s been better than any of my teams in the past So it’s good to play with him now. ” .
The Virat Kohli-led team will now take on Kings XI Punjab on Thursday 24 September.
