Indian Premier League 2020: MS Dhoni reflexes as race drivers, former India trainer Ramji Srinivasan said
Former Indian cricket team coach Ramji Srinivasan has teamed up with the Chennai Super Kings organization. He was with the team until last season and even as critics left no chance to question the form and reflex of captain MS Dhoni, Ramji believes the former Indian captain is still one of the top racing drivers Can compete with when he talks to the referee. Ramji Srinivasan, who has been the coach of the Indian team in the past, is currently working with Narayan Karthikeyan. Speaking to ANI, Ramji said that it is more a matter of gearing up and getting a captain for the captain than a reflex. In fact, the former India coach says that Dhoni has a turnaround time of .32 seconds which is as good as on the cricket pitch.
Srinivasan told, “Have you seen him stumping Prithvi Shaw? He is inverted. He has a .32 second reflex.
“Some racing drivers around the world have the same time if you count. The limit for top athletes is .30 seconds for .45 seconds. Less is better. Elite racers will be below the .30 second mark.” Added.
Asked if a player can work on his reflexes, Ramji said that there is definitely an option. “You have exercises that help you improve your reflexes. Just as you work on your fitness, you can also work on your reflexes,” he said.
“There are specific exercises that help you do this and knowing MS, he will do so the moment he sees the need to improve further.
“Ultimately, cricket is more about reflex and hand-eye coordination than physicality. There are four modes – active, reactive, reflex and multi-tasking and peripheral awareness.”
Dhoni himself has also reported that athletes have been seen spending close to six months after a coronovirus-induced break.
Speaking after the game against Rajasthan Royals, he said that the 14-day quarantine in the UAE also did not help as the training time was short.
“I haven’t batted in a long time. The 14-day quarantine doesn’t help,” he said when asked why he reduced the order against RR.
CSK was the last team to begin training, as several players and support staff members tested positive for COVID-19 after landing in Dubai.
