With Chennai Super Kings still licking their wounds with the full hammer they have received against the Rajasthan Royals, it is almost certain that there will be changes in the bowling line when they meet the Delhi Capitals in their third IPL 2020 match. Piyush Chawla and Lungi Ngidi may well be given a break, which will pave the way for some new bowlers to take some action. CSK – out of two other leggies in the business for Imran Tahir and Karn Sharma – would logically choose the latter, as he would be more involved in fielding than Tahir. If Sharma is called, he could face Marcus Stoinis, who is expected to be one of the big successes in the IPL 2020.
Stoinis has been an explosive for Australia and even in IPL 2020 he scored 53 runs off 21 balls and became quite a canter with seven fours and three sixes. He has played 30 matches for 526 runs at an average rate of 136.62. Add 17 wickets to it, and that is a competitive package.
Therefore, for Sharma, his spelling may well enter Stoinis early in the third quarter. Or at least a part of his mantra, definitely. Sharma took 54 wickets in 62 matches with an economy of 7.82.
Dubai is a big ground and the spinners don’t get a chance in terms of shopping on the track. Stoinis, like most new-old batsmen, believes to hit the cricket ball above the fielders, as much as through them. So there is always a mistake and a chance for the spinner, which makes this face more interesting.
