The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling attack has left something to be desired and veteran Piyush Chawla was called upon to draw the leg-spin department after the first match. With CSK’s bowling not really coming up with the challenge, Chawla’s experience could be a major factor. For Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the batting was under the microscope, so it was inevitable that Kane Williamson would see action as he saw fit. He did so against the Delhi capitals and contributed significantly to SRH’s victory.
Chawla started well against Mumbai Indians, but was defeated by Rajasthan Royals, but everyone did so. He returned with better figures against the Delhi Capitals, but due to defeat. Chawla has four wickets in three matches in IPL 2020, while in total he has played 160 matches to claim 154 wickets in an economy of 7.84.
Williamson scored 41 against the Delhi Capitals in the winning cause. He brings peace to the SRH middle-order with his unaffected attitude.
Overall, Williamson has played 42 matches scoring 1343 runs at a strike rate of 135.65.
The prospect of two veterans will be crucial to the fate of their teams. His face will have implications not only for the CSK-SRH match, but for the entire tournament.
