Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders face-off: Sanju Samson vs Pat Cummins
IPL 2020, RR vs KKR: Sanju Samson has played 95 IPL matches so far© BCCI / IPL
Sanju Samson of Rajasthan Royals started IPL 2020 like a house fire. He hit nine sixes to beat Chennai Super Kings and scored 74 runs in 32 balls. He then turned to Kings XI Punjab, scored 85 off 42 balls, cleaned the fence seven times, did not hit four boundaries. Pat Cummins, Kolkata Knight Riders’ fast bowler, had a poor opening match against Mumbai Indians, scoring 49 runs in three overs, but surpassed the 1/19 mark in four overs, performing brilliantly against Sunrisers Hyderabad . So if RR batting yet goes plot-wise and Samson arrives early, Cummins may well have to cope with the music, but the Australians are definitely up for it.
Samson has been in the midst of two 200-plus scores by the Rajasthan Royals and this appears to be a strategy for the batting side, with Steve Smith and Rahul Tewatia coming into action. Therefore, Cummins-led KKR bowling will have to deny this attack.
Samson has played 95 IPL matches so far, with two centuries and 12 fifties at a strike rate of 2368 with 133.78.
Cummins has been part of 18 matches for 18 wickets for an economy of 8.44.
While the numbers seem to be in favor of Samson, Cummins sends on possibly the best spells in the IPL 2020 against SRH, so he appears to be hitting his stripes properly. This will be one of those face-offs that may leave fans wanting more.
