David Warner praised Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ‘s performance in the death overs against Delhi Capital (DC) in the 15-run Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. It was also his first win of the season. Captain Warner praised his bowlers, saying, “We worked really hard on our death bowling, and today they were all fantastic.” Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar performed brilliantly. The Afghan spinner scored just 14 runs, taking three wickets in four overs. Meanwhile, the Indian fast bowler scored 25 runs, losing two wickets in four overs.
Warner also revealed how his team’s strategy was disrupted following Mitch Marsh’s injury in his first match. He praised Abhishek Sharma for his bowling performance, as he struggled without a proper fifth bowler.
He said, “Unfortunately we injured Mitch Marsh and we were trying to figure out how we would get some overs. The young Abhishek bowled really well.”
SRH aimed for 163 after losing the toss, which ended at 162/4 after 20 overs. Praising his side’s batting performance, he said, “We pride ourselves on running between the wickets. If we can’t find a boundary, we work hard.”
DC could score 147/7 in 20 overs with Shreyas Iyer. After the match, he said, “They knew the pitch better than us. They pushed us forward, credit to them”. It was also DC’s first loss of the season.
SRH will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their next match on 2 October. Meanwhile, DC will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 3 October.
