IPL 2020, KKR vs MI: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma praised his team’s victory
Rohit Sharma was the talisman for Mumbai Indians (MI), which led him to a 49-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. . After winning the man of the match award, the MI captain said, “It was all about how we executed our plans today, we were in good positions and it was all about being ruthless”. He said the wicket was good, and his team took advantage of it. Speaking about his batting performance, he revealed that he was practicing his pull shots recently.
Rohit scored 80 runs. Rohit also said that he wanted to spend some time in the middle overs, which he could not do in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeat. Rohit quipped, “I wanted to spend some time in the middle. It didn’t turn out well in the first innings, but it was good tonight.”
Rohit revealed that MI had planned a swift attack for the Wankhede Stadium, but COVID-19 spoiled his plans. “We never knew that the IPL would be in the UAE so we wanted a fast attack which was strong for Wankhede,” he said.
He praised Trent Bault and James Pattinson for their good performances, even though he joined the team late.
Speaking of his dismissal, he revealed that he had expired.
“It takes a lot for you to play under these conditions. Maybe I was a little tired in the end and it was a lesson for us that a set batsmen need to bat deep to the end,” he said.
Meanwhile, KKR captain Dinesh Karthik felt that his team needed to improve in all areas.
“I think we had areas to do well in bat and ball. I think it was a very harsh day to be honest.”
Karthik also feels that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) conditions need to be favored.
In their next match on 28 September, MI will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Meanwhile, KKR will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 26 September.
