Both Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have managed to win just one of their four matches in IPL 2020 so far. KXIP have been the better of the two sides, but have not been able to close most matches due to their poor death bowling performance. Another thing that haunts him is the over-dependency of his openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, who have done a big job of scoring for him. On the other hand, CSK started the tournament with a win over defending champions Mumbai Indians on the opening day of the season. Since then, MS Dhoni’s side have hit rock bottom with three down defeats.
While both sides have similar points, they can be identified by the brand of cricket played this season. The KXIP openers are the tournament’s top two leading run-scorers, while their two fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and West Indies recruit Sheldon Cottrell are among the top five wicket-takers this season. On the other hand, CSK have only one batsman in the top 15, with Faf du Plessis in third place.
Despite the poor run, CSK will gain confidence from the fact that they have beaten KXIP 13 times in 22 meetings with one win in the Champions League T20. Kings XI Punjab have emerged victorious on eight occasions, including a Super Over victory.

Head to head match status
CSK won: 13
KXIP Won: 9
The young team led by KL Rahul will focus on most of the weaknesses of MS Dhoni’s team, while the Chennai-based franchise will build a complete performance and make a strong statement with a win.
If thick and fast games come, both teams will have to overcome their setbacks and be at the top of their game if they want to bring their campaign back on track.
