Indian Premier League 2020: Enjoyed watching Devdutt Padikkal play, says BCCI President Sourav Ganguly
After Devdutt Padikkal’s 56-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly congratulated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman for playing a blissful innings. Sunrisers Hyderabad lost by 10 runs against RCB on Monday. The David Warner-led team failed to chase the 164-run target. During the RCB batting innings, Devdutt Padikkal scored 56 runs for the RCB in his first match for the franchise. With him, Padikkal now has more than fifty scores in all his major debut matches (First Class, List-A, T20 and IPL).

During his innings, Paddikal also hit eight fours. Ganguly tweeted, “Enjoyed watching Devdutt Padikkal @ RCBTweets..left handers grace so blissfully.”
In the match, RCB’s Yuzvendra Chahal finished with figures of 3-18 and took crucial wickets of Johnny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, and Vijay Shankar to lead his side to victory by ten runs.
“I was very nervous when I got the news that I would debut for RCB. I was walking into my room the day I received the news that I would play against Hyderabad. When I came to bat I settled down. Then, When I played my first two balls, I felt really good, ”Padikkal told Yuzvendra Chahal in a video posted on the official website of the IPL.
“For the last one month we have been training here, Virat Brother Has spoken to me and I have learned a lot from him. Whenever I am with him, he keeps asking me questions.
“It was amazing to play with Finch today, he understood that I am scoring fast, so he gave me a strike and showed confidence in me,” he said.
The Sunrisers were scoring 121/2 at a time and were chasing their target of 164. However, for RCB, Yuzvendra Chahal and Navdeep Saini made a brilliant comeback and Hyderabad lost the match by 10 runs, losing eight wickets for just 32 runs.
Johnny Bairstow scored 61 runs for Hyderabad, while Manish Pandey scored 34 runs.
Earlier, for RCB, Padikkal and AB de Villiers had scored half-centuries to score a total of 163/5 in half-twenty overs.
The Virat Kohli-led team will now take on Kings XI Punjab on Thursday 24 September.
