Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Preview: KKR Step Up With Swagger DC DC Rebird Win

Kolkata Knight Riders are possibly the quietest winners of the business. Even when they are the iconic Shah Rukh Khan in the stands, KKR is never unlike Mumbai Indians or Kings XI Punjab. Kolkata’s side moves quietly about their business. Once the cause may be quiet Shubman Gill up, or even the relatively quiet Andre Russell. On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals created a lot of uproar in their first two matches, not least when they scored a Super Over victory over Kings XI Punjab. When Sharjah meets on Saturday, KKR will be hoping for another display of calm efficiency, while DC Sunrisers will be hoping to revive the fireworks after losing to Hyderabad.

But the fact that the match is in Sharjah almost ensures that there is little in terms of recluse.

After an initial loss to Mumbai Indians, KKR came back strongly to win the next two matches and would like to continue that momentum. While he has some obvious weak points – at least not sending Sunil Narayan as the opener – he seems to have found the mantra to make things his way.

One of his success stories is Shubman Gill, who has a clear-cut picture at the top of the innings. He is the cement to complete the essay together under the leadership of Eoin Morgan.

The rest of the batting has been done up-down, with Nitish Rana, Russell and captain Dinesh Karthik needing more consistency. And of course there is the matter of opening the order to someone instead of Naren and transferring the order to Morgan.

The bowling has performed well in the last two matches, with Pat Cummins receiving the ideal foil from Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagerkoti. Naren’s spin department,

Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakraborty are looking good.

For the Delhi Capitals, their match with SRH was excellent. The bowling was fine, stopping Hyderabad at 162 but the batting did not make it to the party.

Kagiso Rabada and Amit Mishra are in a good position with the ball, but the batsmen have started almost all since they were quite wanted and then disappointed them.

But batting is likely to win the match, so the KKR bowlers will not have a cakewalk.

The two sides are trying to unite, so all loose ends can be addressed as another run-fest in Sharjah.
