IPL 2020, CSK vs DC: Players to Watch Out For

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated defending champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 opener, but crashed exclusively on Earth by Sanju Samson for the Rajasthan Royals. The otherwise disciplined CSK bowling line-up was taken to the cleaners by Samson and captain Steve Smith. Faf du Plessis knocked his team a vortex with the goal, but it was not enough. CSK has two days left to regroup and will now be up against another strong batting line-up. However, the Delhi Capitals looked all the way out in their previous match against Kings XI Punjab, and were saved by some decisions on the minds of opposition players.

Chennai Super Kings

Faf du Plessis: South Africans turned 36 this year but still have plenty of punch in their batting. The former Proteas captain has been a standout for CSK this season and his team is expecting even more.

In the chase against Mumbai Indians, du Plessis held one end as Ambati Rayudu smashed an unbeaten 58 off 44 balls to put CSK in line. Against the Rajasthan Royals, with CSK chasing 217 for the win, du Plessis scored 72 runs off 37 balls, including a four and seven sixes. If South Africans can repeat that knock, we are in Dubai for some fireworks.

M S Dhoni: The CSK captain did not tease from the get-go for a stick from some quarters, scoring 29 runs off 17 balls, including three sixes in the final over. His strike-rate during the loss was the third best in the CSK team, but Dhoni should be used for this lewd criticism.

The CSK captain, however, has let himself down in both the matches he has played so far. And it is expected that the match against the Delhi Capitals will change, giving Dhoni a big chance before he can land the tier.

Sam curran: Most thought the Englishman was just a replacement for the injured Dwayne Bravo. But Sam Curren has been brilliant in CSK yellow. The English all-rounder contributed to the match with the opener in the IPL 2020 and added his tally of 1/28 in 4 overs against Mumbai Indians.

He made three cameos against Rajasthan Royals and another cameo with the bat, making him important for CSK. Lungi Ngidi has been down evenly and CSK will rely even more on Curran to work against Delhi.

Capital of Delhi

Shreyas iyer: Delhi captain Kings XI were in good touch against Punjab before Mohammad Shami cut his innings. He was the second highest run-scorer for his team in that match, scoring 39 runs in 32 balls.

However, Delhi will need more than their captain, especially against stiff opposition like Chennai Super Kings. Iyer needs to count his debut this season and make a big score.

Rishabh Pant: The wicketkeeper-batsmen also looked very good, and they helped to stabilize the Delhi Capitals innings after the initial loss. He made it tough under difficult conditions, showing patience and patience.

However, when it was seen that he would cut loose, he was sent packing for 31 by the influential Ravi Bishnoi. Iyer like Pant will have to score big, if Delhi have to go away this season.

Marcus Stoinis: Australian all-rounder was the hero for Delhi Capital vs Kings XI Punjab. He played a stormy innings of 53 runs in just 21 balls, taking two wickets as well.

Both the wickets that Stoinis took in the last over of the match took Mayank Agarwal in the first set and then Chris Jordan to take the match into the super over. Delhi needs more than Australians.
