IPL 2020 Points Table Update: Orange Cap Holder and Purple Cap Holder List after KXIP vs MI
Mumbai Indians topped the Indian Premier League 2020 points table with a 48-run win over Kings XI Punjab. With two wins from four matches, they are on points level with Delhi Capital, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, but an improved net run rate puts them ahead of the rest. However, they have now played one match more than the other teams at four points. KXIP dropped to 6th place, still maintaining a better NRR than Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, who also have two points each. However, with CSK and SRH facing off on Thursday, KXIP is bound to leave one more venue before their next game.
Though their top scorers Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul failed to make a big impression, the Orange Cap was later taken over by their opening partner and captain. Aggarwal now leads the run charts in the tournament with 246 runs under his belt, while KL Rahul is behind him with 239.
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, who scored 70 out of 45, scored his second half-century with fours on the run-scoring chart.
Kiron Pollard, who scored an unbeaten 47 off 20 balls, also dropped to 6th place.
Mohammed Shami regained the purple cap of Kagiso Rabada as he took 8 wickets in the tournament with the captain of Mumbai Indians.
Rabada is behind him, with 7 wickets, and one more for the Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler who can take him back to the Purple Cap due to his superior economy rate, provided he does not leak too many runs in his next game.
Shami’s KXIP teammates Sheldon Cottrell and the MI duo of Rahul Chahar and Trent Boult have also picked up six wickets in the Purple Cap race, while James Pattinson and Jasprit Bumrah have risen to five scales in the season.
