IPL 2020, RCB vs MI: RCB head coach Simon Katich urges players to be “ruthless”
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Simon Katich told his players that they needed to be ruthless to prevent them from returning to the match. RCB defeated Mumbai Indians in a super over at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday as their comments. In the Super Over, Mumbai Indians could manage just seven runs as Saini bowled a brilliant over, and was easily followed by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The match was tied after both Mumbai and RCB scored 201 runs in 20 overs in regulation play.
He said, “It is obvious that Captain Kohli decided to negotiate with all his bowlers. Sundar bowled three overs for just seven runs in the powerplay and it was absolutely brilliant. Negi was brilliant as he took three catches. Isuru. Got the first wicket. RCB. The energy outside was fantastic to watch, I don’t think we deserved to lose that game against Mumbai, “said Katich in his video posted on RCB’s official Twitter handle after the match. The players were seen stating.
“We have done a lot of things right, more positive than negative. In all three matches, we have given the opposition a chance, if we are ruthless we will eliminate them. If we are fit, we will go much further. He said, “This game is nothing to us so we have to start again.”
Chasing 202, Mumbai found themselves at 78/4, but it was then that Ishan Kishan stood together at the crease to take a 119-run lead to take the team closer to the target. Ishan Kishan smashed 99, including two fours and nine sixes. On the other hand, Pollard scored an unbeaten 60-run knock in 24 balls with the help of three fours and five sixes.
For RCB, fast bowler Navdeep Saini finished with figures of 0/43 in his four overs. The fast bowler also threw a super over, in which he conceded just seven runs, though Pollard and Hardik Pandya were in the middle.
In the match against Mumbai Indians, RCB left Josh Phillip and D-Villiers wore gloves to do wicket-keeping duty. With the bat in hand, the Proteas star scored an unbeaten innings of 55 off just 24 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes to take RCB’s score to 201/3 in the prescribed twenty overs.
For RCB, Washington Sundar was also an outstanding performer as he conceded just 12 runs in his four-over quota and also took Rohit Sharma’s crucial wicket.
RCB have played three matches in the tournament so far and the team has managed to win two of these three matches. The Virat Kohli-led team will now play their next match with Rajasthan Royals on 3 October.
